MAWI THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

 

 

High-end, yet edgy, fashion-jewellery brand Mawi have unveiled their latest retrospective mini-movie showcasing their directional pieces. Entitled Robots Invasion, it is inspired by the animations of the prolific Jan Svanmajer.
Filmed over four summer days using the time-consuming stop motion technique, Robots Invasion is a psychedelic journey through a treasure chest of Mawi’s classic collections. The protagonist (played by gamine actress Lou Gala), is a mix of equal parts android and porcelain doll. She follows a team of tiny toy robots across a surrealistic leafy Parisian garden, tripping with winking rocking horses and twirling ribbons. Ripe fruits bounce and burst with Mawi jewels, rings scuttle onto fingers, and necklaces snake around the neck, transforming sparkling gemstones, crystals and pearls into cutesy-crawly creatures. Creatively chaotic and marvellously mischievous, Robots Invasion trips down the rabbit hole to Mawi's wonderland of gems.
